Our Pilgrim family actively serves in the preparation for worship and in assisting the pastor and Elders in leading worship. Already a Worship Assistant? Download the March Worship Leader Schedule.
Acolytes: Acolytes light and extinguish the candles, handle the offering plates and collect the small communion chalices. Those interested in serving as an acolyte (5th grade up and adults) first attend a learners course. Returning acolytes receive a refresher course the following year. Parents are encouraged to attend and are asked to serve as greeters at services where their child serves as an acolyte. Upon completing the course, students are assigned to serve on Sunday mornings. Altar Guild: Pilgrim's Altar Guild prepares the linens and dresses the altar, refills pencils and prayer cards in the pews, and washes the communion chalices after worship.
Bulletin Volunteers: Mid-week, Pilgrim’s Bulletin Volunteers help fold and assemble the Sunday worship bulletins.
Lay Readers/Assistants & Communion Assistants: Lay Assistants typically read the first two scripture lessons, say an offering prayer, commune the pastor and handle a tray of small chalices during communion. You can also choose to serve as a reader without serving communion. On the second Sunday of each month during the 10:45 AM service, Communion Assistants help with continuous line communion by handling the common cup or a tray of small chalices.
Ushers: Ushers assist with distributing and/or collecting bulletins, attendance pads and offering plates. Ushers also assist with setting up the communion rail and directing communion participants.
