Music & Arts

"Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world."----Martin Luther

Pilgrim's music program is a treasured part of our church and worship.  We draw upon Lutheran, classical, contemporary, and global music traditions to inspire our music making today.  A typical worship service can include creative hymn playing, special organ music, liturgy led by our Adult Choir, a choral anthem (often a capella), and visits by our children's choir, Youth Bell Choir, Pilgrim Ringers, and guest musicians.  Every second Sunday of the month, our Combo Group (piano, flute, guitar, percussion, and singers) leads a contemporary setting of the liturgy.

Each worship service’s hymns, liturgy, and special music are carefully planned to complement the scripture and theme of the service.  In Lent, our liturgy is retrospective and meditative.  On Easter Sunday, our brass quartet fanfares the excitement and majesty of the Resurrection.  On Christmas Eve, our Adult Choir leads the a capella singing of "Silent Night" by candlelight to quietly celebrate Jesus' birth.

If you love to sing or play an instrument, whatever your skill level, age, or ability may be, we invite you to participate in Pilgrim’s musical community. Your talent is a gift from God and Pilgrim is blessed to have many people sharing their talents and enjoying the fellowship of our musical ensembles.  Call the church office 317.846.2221 ext. 1208 to contact Sarah Williams.
